Living Netism is a community platform operated by Netism, a nonprofit organization. We collect only what we need to run the service, never sell your personal information, never run third-party ad targeting, and give you full control over your data. This policy explains the details.

Every piece of content you post carries an audience. You choose:
Your display name, username, and avatar are always visible so people can find and recognize you.
Industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+), bcrypt-hashed passwords, role-based access controls on our backend, and audit logging for administrative actions. No system is perfectly secure — if a breach affects you we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
Living Netism is for adults only. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We require date of birth at signup and reject accounts that do not meet this threshold. If we become aware that an account belongs to a minor we delete it and any content.
If you are outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. We comply with GDPR for EU/UK users, the UK Data Protection Act, and the CCPA/CPRA for California residents.
We use a minimal set of cookies: authentication (to keep you signed in), preference (dark mode, language), and security (rate-limiting, CSRF protection). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers.
We update this policy when we change how we handle data. Material changes are announced via an in-app banner at least 30 days before they take effect.
When you install the Living Netism mobile app, Android (and iOS) ask you to grant the following permissions. Each is requested only when the matching feature is used, never preemptively, and you can revoke any of them at any time in your device's Settings → Apps → Living Netism → Permissions.
android.permission.CAMERA) — used only when you choose to record a video in the Visions composer or take a profile photo. Camera frames are previewed locally on your device and uploaded only when you tap Post. We never access the camera in the background.android.permission.RECORD_AUDIO) — used only while you are actively recording a video. Audio is captured solely as part of that video file. We never record audio in the background or analyse the microphone for any other purpose.android.permission.POST_NOTIFICATIONS) — used to deliver push notifications you've opted into (messages, replies, mentions, mod actions). You can turn this off per-category in Settings → Notifications without disabling the app.android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, android.permission.INTERNET) — required for the app to talk to livingnetism.com. We do not use these to fingerprint your network or location.READ_MEDIA_IMAGES, READ_MEDIA_VIDEO) — used only when you tap to attach an existing photo or video to a post. We do not scan your library; the system picker shows you what to share and we receive only the items you select.Camera and microphone permissions are declared as optional features (uses-feature ... required="false") so the app installs even on devices without a camera, and revoking them never breaks the app — only the specific feature that needs them.
We do NOT request: precise or coarse location, contacts, calendar, SMS, phone, body sensors, biometrics, system-wide accessibility services, installed-apps list, or any other permission outside the list above.
