The Root Center is the origin point of your energy body, located outside the physical form, just below the genitals. In Netism, this center is aligned with Venus as the force of vital connection to life itself. This is your inner spark, your joie de vivre, your spiritual seed, your most intimate and vulnerable self.

When the Root Center is balanced, there’s a quiet confidence in simply being alive. You feel that you belong here. There is a sense of safety in your skin and a natural trust in the unfolding of your life. You may not always know exactly what lies ahead, but you feel deeply that you’re meant to be here.

When the Root is imbalanced or damaged, this foundational sense of belonging is shaken. A person may constantly question their reason for existence, feel unsafe in the world, or live in frequent fear and emotional insecurity. Those who have experienced sexual assault or bodily violation often carry trauma in this center, whether consciously or not. But healing is possible through presence, restoration of trust, and reconnection to the sacredness of the body.

If we want to balance the higher centers, we must start at the Root. This is our origin and foundation.

Do you struggle with this center?
What advice do you have for balancing it?

Grounding is SO important! I probably struggle a lot here.. feelings of safety, security are important so I don’t go into a freak out with anxious thoughts.

Yes… I do struggle with this center. There were things that happened in my early life that left me feeling like I didn’t belong in my own body. Like it wasn’t safe to be here, or to be me. For a long time, I lived in my head, in my thoughts, and in meditation, because it felt safer up there than down in the body where all the pain and fear lived. But over the last few years, I’ve been slowly working with the Root. I’m still learning how to feel safe in myself. Some days are harder than others. But I think the Root Center doesn’t need us to be perfect, it just needs us to be present.

Everything begins at the root. We can’t be anything if we’re not comfortable in our own skin. I know that’s hard some days, but it shouldn’t be. We should be able to love ourselves no matter what.
