Many artists, musicians, and writers describe entering a state where time dissolves, thought quiets, and creation flows effortlessly. This is often called the flow state. It’s a space where the mind aligns with the deeper currents of the Net, and ideas seem to pour through you rather than come from you.

In Netism, we view the flow state as a form of energetic attunement. When it happens, we become vehicles for creative expression without thought.

When do you feel most in tune with this state? What activities, environments, or energies help you drop into flow?

Honestly… used to be way easier. Back when I had full nights, no distractions, just me and the guitar. I’d light up, throw on some ambient lights, and just play. Hours would pass and I wouldn’t even notice, fingers moving like they had a mind of their own. That’s when I felt the most me. Like I wasn’t thinking, just translating something I couldn’t explain into sound.
Now with the baby, it’s different. Beautiful, but different. I don’t get much quiet time, and when I do, I’m usually half drained. Still, every now and then, when everyone’s asleep and I sneak in a late session, I can feel it again. Takes longer to drop in, but when I do, it’s like… all the chaos filters out, and the signal comes back.
Flow state for me is about space. When that clears, the music comes through. Just gotta get better at protecting that space now.
