This group is devoted to the living path of Shamanism, a sacred practice of threshold crossing, spiritual guidance, and inner transformation. Found across the world in Indigenous and ancestral traditions, Shamanism is the art of moving between realms in service of healing, harmony, and truth. Shamans and spirit-walkers enter altered states to engage with guides, ancestors, and natural intelligences, retrieving lost knowledge, tending to the soul, and restoring energetic balance.

Mentors, Not Meds: Why Guidance Matters in the forum The Shamanic Path: Initiation, Spirit, and Healing 1 week, 2 days ago
As a therapist, I see this truth so often. Many who come to me feel broken, ashamed, or afraid of what they’re experiencing but when we slow down, there’s usually a deeper story unfolding. I think labeling people with disorders or just calling them crazy can be harmful, even in professional settings, some doctors tend to label patients and put the…[Read more]

Even with all the effort to destigma mental illness, ppl still cant handle being sad. Like, that’s part of the ride, we gotta go thru it sometimes…. Thats how we get strong. Awakening to new stuff is rough, no 1 said this was easy, but it is worth it….

The Shaman’s Death: Ego Dissolution as a Rite of Passage in the forum The Shamanic Path: Initiation, Spirit, and Healing 2 months, 2 weeks ago
After my husband’s death, which nobody expected, I fell apart completely. I didn’t realize how much of my identity was wrapped up in my life with him. I felt like a zombie, a shell of a person.. half my spirit was on the other side.. But I did eventually recover. Can’t say I’ll ever get over it, but I can live past it now. I had to learn that time…[Read more]

Children of the Spirit: The Elder and the Newborn in the forum The Shamanic Path: Initiation, Spirit, and Healing 2 months, 2 weeks ago
When my youngest was born, I remember holding him in that half-sleep daze at 3am and just feeling that he wasn’t all here yet. His eyes would scan the room like he was still seeing something I couldn’t. That liminal space… it felt holy.
Years later, I took care of my grandmother as she was passing. She had Alzheimer’s, and some days she’d a…[Read more]

I wish more people understood that spiritual awakening doesn’t always look graceful, it can look like panic attacks, dissociation, crying for no reason, thinking you’re going crazy. I was that person. And I had no language for it, no elder, no guide. Just fear and isolation and that awful feeling like something was breaking open inside me and I d…[Read more]

Children of the Spirit: The Elder and the Newborn in the forum The Shamanic Path: Initiation, Spirit, and Healing 2 months, 3 weeks ago
In many indigenous traditions, it is said that the very young and the very old are closest to the spirit world. Newborns have only just crossed the threshold into this reality, their senses still tuned to other frequencies. Elders, especially those nearing the end of life, are already beginning their return. Together, they form bookends of…[Read more]

The Shaman’s Death: Ego Dissolution as a Rite of Passage in the forum The Shamanic Path: Initiation, Spirit, and Healing 2 months, 3 weeks ago
In nearly every authentic shamanic tradition, the path begins with death—a symbolic death of the former self. It is a collapse of the old identity, often initiated through illness, emotional breakdown, visionary crisis, or overwhelming spiritual insight. What dies is the illusion of separation. What’s left is something raw, open, and attuned to…[Read more]

In traditional cultures, when a young person starts hearing voices, having visions, or going through overwhelming emotions, it isn’t immediately pathologized. It’s often seen as a sign of calling, a spiritual emergence. Elders recognize the signs. Instead of suppressing the experience, they guide the person through it. They stay close and explain…[Read more]

Have you experienced a crisis that felt like an initiation? in the forum The Shamanic Path: Initiation, Spirit, and Healing 3 months ago
That is a lot to deal with, I’m sorry you had to go through all that! Along with this board, I’m eventually going to be creating a board specifically related to recovery from trauma. It will also be covered in depth in my alchemy book. Trauma doesn’t have to be a life sentence, and we can transmute it into a strength with a lot of work. The Netism…[Read more]
