Before Laolys can begin his lessons with the sage, he has to agree to share his wisdom with anyone who asks. As a political figure, this will tarnish his reputation and cost him his career. Laolys lives in a political family. It will destroy his relationships with them, too.
This begs the question: How much are you willing to give up to gain spiritual insight? What price are you willing to pay? What will you refuse to pay?
Some will have to give up more than others, but everyone will have to forgo something. We cannot start a new life without shedding the former. Those who are still bound by illusions will resist your shedding of them. They will not understand your actions because they do not want to look past the illusions. Progress asks us to release the parts of our lives that pull us down. To outsiders, it may not make sense.
Ask yourself, what in your life is holding you back? What do you need more of? For example, you might exchange 30 minutes of social media time for 30 minutes of meditation. Apply the change in your life regularly, and observe the effects. Continue making adjustments, changing habits one by one.
Sometimes, when we alter our resonance, others will think we are growing distant. In a way, we are, because our vibrational tone is no longer coordinated with the people we used to be aligned with. They may suspect betrayal, but stick to your progress. Eventually, you will understand an entirely new way of being.
If enlightenment were easy, everyone would be doing it. Do not expect or demand that other people in your life follow suit. They might not be ready. Do not hold yourself hostage either. Live your life with purpose, chasing ascension with every effort, if it is in your inclination to do so.
What do you think about Laolys’s sacrifice?
If you were in his position, would you do the same?
What have you sacrificed for your spiritual growth? Was it worth it?
